Why make a birthday gift list?
π
Presents you'll actually use
Your loved ones know what you'd like, in the right model and size. Fewer presents at the back of a cupboard, fewer gift receipts to keep.
π«
Nobody gives the same thing
Each gift can only be reserved once. No three copies of the same book, and no doubled-up toys at a children's party.
π€«
The surprise stays intact
You can't see who reserved what. On the day, you open your presents without knowing which came from whom.
π²
Easy for guests
Drop the link into the invitation or the WhatsApp group and that's it. Guests view and reserve without creating an account.

A birthday list here means a gift list: you note what you'd like, send the link to your loved ones, and each of them reserves the item they plan to give. It isn't a birthday reminder or an invitation tool. It's the modern version of the list you used to hand to your grandparents, with one big advantage: it knows what has already been taken.
It works at any age. For a child, the parents run it. For an adult, it saves everyone from polite but pointless presents. For a party with lots of guests, it replaces the endless 'what are you getting them?' messages.
How to make a birthday gift list online
The form is at the top of the page and you don't need to sign up, so you can have a shareable list in a few minutes.
Step 1 β Give it a title ('Jack turns 7', 'My 40th') and, if you like, a description and your first name.
Step 2 β Add your ideas: name, a useful detail (shoe size, colour, edition), one or more links to any shop, and a rough price. The product picture appears automatically from the first link.
Step 3 β Mark your favourites and, for each item, say whether second-hand is fine: Vinted and Leboncoin search links then appear on the gift.
Step 4 β Share the unique link by WhatsApp, text, email or Messenger, or add it to the invitation.
Step 5 β Guests reserve with their first name and email, then confirm through the link they receive (valid for 24 hours). A reserved gift is no longer offered to others.
Children's list or adult's list: two different jobs
A child's list is mostly about coordination. At a class party, ten families each turn up with a present, and without a list it's easy to end up with three of the same card game. Add more ideas than there are guests, with plenty between β¬10 and β¬25, the usual budget between classmates. Then add a few bigger ideas for close family.
An adult's list is more about guidance. People want to please without missing the mark. Five to eight ideas are enough, provided they are specific: 'volume 3 of this series', 'a 28 cm stainless steel frying pan', 'a wine-tasting class near Bristol'. Experiences belong here too.
Two example birthday lists
Prices are common market ranges, there only to show how to spread budgets.
Jack turns 7: a building set (β¬25 to β¬40), a fast-paced card game (β¬10 to β¬20), two comics from his favourite series (β¬10 to β¬12 each), a size 4 football (β¬15 to β¬25), a magic kit (β¬15 to β¬30), a head torch (β¬10 to β¬15), and a treetop adventure day with an aunt or uncle (β¬20 to β¬30). Seven ideas for a dozen guests, topped up with second-hand books.
Sophie's 40th: an e-reader (β¬100 to β¬150, ideal for a group gift), a thick yoga mat (β¬30 to β¬50), a tea selection box (β¬20 to β¬35), tickets to a particular artist's gig (β¬50 to β¬80), a pottery workshop (β¬60 to β¬90) and a good cookbook (β¬25 to β¬40). The most expensive item is marked as a favourite so anyone wanting to club together can spot it.
The details that make a birthday list work
You can tell a good list by one thing: guests never need to ask you a question. To get there, each line should answer the usual doubts in advance. What size? What colour? Which volume of the series? Does it have to be new? That's what the description field is for, and the rough price helps everyone get their bearings without opening every link.
For a big present, such as a games console or a bike, people often club together. One of them reserves the item on the list, then sorts out splitting the cost with the others. The site doesn't handle money: if you'd rather receive cash contributions, add a line with a link to an external money pot (PayPal, Leetchi), and say in the description what it will go towards.
Finally, think second-hand. Plenty of toys, books and children's clothes can be found in excellent condition for a fraction of the new price. Ticking the second-hand preference on an item clearly tells your loved ones they can look there, and Vinted and Leboncoin search links appear right on the gift.
