Why choose an online wedding list that works with any shop?

πŸ›οΈ

Every shop on one list

A pan from the manufacturer, bedding from an independent maker, a mixer from a big retailer: each gift can link to the shop of your choice, or to several.

πŸ’Ά

Free, no commission

The service is funded by advertising. No commission is taken on your gifts or from your guests, and there are no paid options.

🀫

Guests reserve, you see nothing

A reserved gift disappears from other guests' choices. You don't know who reserved what, so the surprise is saved for the day.

πŸ’Œ

One link for the invitation

Put the link on the invitation, the wedding website or in a message. Guests view the list without an account, on their phone.

How to set up a wedding gift list online

Start from the form at the top of the page. No account is required, but for a wedding list we'd recommend creating a free one: the list will live for several months and you'll want to reach it from both your phones.

  • Step 1 β€” Create the list with a title ('Clara and Tom's wedding'), a description with the date and venue, and your first names.
  • Step 2 β€” Add gifts: name, details (dimensions, colour, reference), one or more links to the shops you choose, and a rough price. The product picture is taken from the first link.
  • Step 3 β€” Mark your favourites and, if you like, add a line for a honeymoon contribution linking to your money pot.
  • Step 4 β€” Put the share link on the invitation or wedding website, and send it to guests by email or message.
  • Step 5 β€” Each guest reserves a gift with their first name and email, then confirms through the link they receive (valid for 24 hours). They then buy it from the shop listed and bring it or have it delivered.

Cash gifts and honeymoon funds: how it works

To be clear: the site doesn't handle money. There is no built-in money pot and no online payment. That keeps the service free and commission-free, but it means one small extra step if you'd like cash contributions.

The method is simple. Set up a money pot on a dedicated service (PayPal, Leetchi or similar), then add a gift to your list called, say, 'Honeymoon contribution', with the link to that pot. You can create several more evocative ones: 'A night in Lisbon', 'Dinner by the sea', 'The train tickets'. Guests see the idea on the list, follow the link and contribute directly on the platform you chose, under its own terms.

One thing to note: a reserved gift is no longer shown to other guests. For a contribution that lots of people should be able to add to, say in the description that guests can simply use the link without reserving, or create several lines of a similar amount.

Any-shop list versus a single-store registry

The department-store registry was long the norm: one retailer, items picked in store, often a completion discount at the end. It still makes sense if everything you want is in one place. Otherwise, it forces compromises.

A list that works with any shop lets you put it together freely: the casserole from the manufacturer, the sheets from a small maker, a second-hand bike spotted online. For each item you can say second-hand is fine, and the gift then shows Vinted and Leboncoin search links. The trade-off is that guests buy the gift themselves and bring it or have it delivered, as they would with any present.

  • Freedom of choice: every website, every retailer, second-hand included
  • No commission taken from your gifts or your guests
  • Secret reservations, with no possible duplicates
  • Each guest handles purchase and delivery, online or in store

An example of a well-balanced wedding list

For around a hundred guests, aim for 40 to 60 lines, bearing in mind that many couples and families give a single joint present. Here is a split that works, with market prices given as a guide: around fifteen small gifts between €20 and €50 (linen tea towels, wine glasses, a tart tin, plants), around twenty between €50 and €150 (cast-iron casserole, bedding set, cafetiΓ¨re, a lamp), around ten between €150 and €400 (stand mixer, vacuum cleaner, full dinner service), and a few honeymoon contribution lines.

Highlight your favourites and describe exactly what you want: a guest who has never seen your home will appreciate knowing the duvet set is king size, in sage green.

Think about guests who are less comfortable shopping online, too. A grandparent can happily look at the list, reserve an item, then buy it from their local shop: the link is a reference, not an obligation. Say so in the list description, something like 'links are just a guide, buy wherever you like', and everyone will feel free.
